If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.

Foulpointe!

Paging Forrest Richardson.  I believe Mutan is on the sixth tee, recovering from the hallucinagenic (sp?) berries consumed at the 5th?

3 of the top 50 courses back then were in Africa...how many of the top 100 are there now? Zero? One? Shouldn't there be more world-class courses in South Africa?

I’m trying to find out the criteria for the rankings.
If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.

Tom Mc - sorry

Thanks to Tom Macwood for the white paper.

I have used this list to argue the relevance and skill of our course architect .

In 1939 a course 1 hour north of ours - designed in the same year by the same man - was rated #72 IN THE WORLD.

If that doesn't get you to at least consider possible restoration -perhaps nothing will.
