http://www.golfcoursenews.com/news/news.asp?ID=2245Cleveland – The boards of Mayfield Country Club and Sand Ridge Golf Club voted unanimously to seek member support for a merger between the clubs. The proposal will bring the two clubs together, creating a unified membership with access to both facilities.
Pending approval of both club memberships, the proposed merger will offer membership to both clubs under one unified dues and initiation fee structure. The combination will result in a private club experience with the unique ability to attract new members in a competitive market. Members will have access to two top-tier golf courses and other amenities such as swimming, tennis, curling, fine dining and banquet facilities. The boards expect the transaction to be completed by the end of April 2006.
“We are delighted about the opportunities this merger will provide members. Access to golf at Sand Ridge - ranked 52nd in the nation by Golf Digest - is an exceptional benefit to current Mayfield members while we believe the fine dining and family amenities offered at Mayfield will enhance the current Sand Ridge member’s experience,” says Robert G. McCreary III, president of Mayfield Country Club.
William E. Conway, chairman and founder of Sand Ridge Golf Club, says the proposed merger will enable both clubs to attract new members, become more innovative in their offerings and operate more efficiently.
“Of all the private clubs in Northeast Ohio, we found that Mayfield Country Club most closely demonstrated the same commitment to excellence that we have established at Sand Ridge Golf Club," Conway says. "In merging with this fine organization, current Sand Ridge members and new members will benefit from their updated facilities, fine dining and tradition-rich culture. We are enthusiastic about the synergies to be formed from merging with the finest family club on the east side."
Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio, was founded in 1998 and honored as one of the top 100 courses in the United States in the 2005-2006 Golf Digest ranking.
