Is anyone familiar Lake PLacid's  "links" course. Thoughts about routing, green complexes, and holes of interest would be appreciated.   What are some of Seymour Dunn's other finest designs ?   thanks

Seymour Dunn did the orginal 9 holes at Chautaqua Golf Club in 1910.  These holes were redesigned by Donald Ross and 9 holes added in 1921, the Dunn holes were part of what is now the Lake Course.

The one hole that jumped out at me that is not Ross and for sure created by Dunn is the 11th.  This hole is a shorter par 4 with an elevated green tucked into a hillside.  The green has two tiers and slopes from back to front, is oriented/turned on an angle with respect to the fairway and fronted by a deep bunker.  Wonderfull hole and definetly a Dunn hole.

I am and its a disaster.  AVOID.

It has NO links feaqtures, is over priced and is in TERRIBLE CONDITION.

My nephew had a summer job on the greenskeeping staff and told me horror stories...then I went and played it.

Here's a link to my reviews of two LP Dunn courses.  I'll never play another of his.  To paraphrase JC Snead, "they screwed up a perfectly goof ski hill..."

Two other Dunn courses in NY are Locust Hill Country Club in Rochester (LPGA event) and Tuscarora Country Club in Syracuse.

Played Tuscarora when I lived in the 'Cuse.  Nice place...light years better than the LP courses...I wonder how much his private work exceeds his public work?  From the three I played, a great deal.  What dop people think about Locust Hill?

Pne last thing...there is no "lake course"

Its the links course and the mountain course (short...really short and comically hilly.)
