Evan's nice pictures from Morgan Creek inspired me to dig out some gloomy photos from a very vindy September day at Dundonald.

Here we go...

An interesting bunker construction with a much larger gathering area of influence to gobble up a ball to a smaller and easier to maintain sand pit.  Something like the road hole bunker.

I assume this is another work by Phillips of a combination of using natural terrain and creating sympathetic dunes-like mounds and contour, as he did at Kingsbarns.  It appears Phillips really has a great touch for the manufactured emulations.  I like all that I've seen in photos of his work.
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

I've only talked with 1 person who has played it and he said it was really hard.

The course was originally called Southern Gailes but was changed when the ownership changed at the request of Prince Andrew.

Is most of that mounding natural?

Yes, the course is quite tough. Most of the tee shoots gives you an sincere open view over the hole but real trouble awaits if some of the approach shots not is executed in a correct fashion.

I'll belive that some parts of the mounding is natural. But we are certainly also talking about a little bulldozering here and there.
