Rustic Canyon thread!!  Yes you are correct I got to play this famed course again for the first time in 1 year. WOW what a change, 4 interesting visual plays basicly the same to me just a different look I prefered the old look just caust the hole looked so easy but it really was not. 6 basiclly the same hole no real complaints. 7 well it has been said here many a times to me there are many options you have to pick the right one for you. The green is to me to big and to severe I liked the old one much better but hey I am not complaining I still love the course. The rest well you know all about it is great to me. Easily in my top ten that I have played.

Now for the golf....well it was very very windy.  Just an example on hole 13 simper and I both hit driver.......driver......and yes again another driver.

Don't forget the 1-2 punch of David's birdie on 17, and my 15 footer to halve the match on 18.

Wind is nothing new at RC, but in a 4-5 club wind, I'm still struck by how playable the course is - take away the parched greens (slow them up just a touch) and scoring is still possible...unlike neighbors Lost Canyons, Tierrable Rejada, and Moorpark CC.

I think the changes on 4, 5 (tee), 6 are for the better, 7 I still need to get used to though.

Can't wait for the wind to die down, though, so I can actually get to 11 in two.

Anybody remember the Sunday singles matches during KP III?

Dan King and I were duking it out when we arrived at #13 and the wind was howling down canyon at least 6 clubs worth, maybe the strongest wind I've ever played in.  I think Dan's 9 won the hole!  I got in that front bunker and almost blinded myself at least three times with the sand peppering my unprotected eyes..........

What has happened to #4?  That was the most difficult easy looking par 3 I think I've ever played.  What has been done?

Bill they re-did the green a bit and added a large bunker 50 yards short of the green which only affect the visual unless you really chunk it.

4 plays similarly, though there is a little trough that you can get in once on the upper shelf that runs perpindicular to the hole.

The bunker just takes away the uber-clean look that the hole used to have - no more "wait, this is it??" reaction that first time players got on the first tee.

I took two strokes from Brian in our medal play match on the par 3 15th with a 6 to his 8

However, I found the best way to play #4 down wind was a bump and run, and it sounds as though that bunker 50 yds short in the middle could really mess up that plan!

You can still do that - the best play is to bring it in from the right with a bumping, rolling draw - I think the back pins are more accessible now.
