I can't wait to see Jeff Brauer's new Giant's Ridge course. It's big, bold, and wild. Just what I would expect from a Texan with the heart of Chicago.

The new Quarry at Giants Ridge will be a better test for good players than their first course, which has been ranked as the best public course in Minnesota. The Quarry is planned as a tournament quality course that's walkable. It should play hard and fast, as it's built on sandy soil, around and through an old quarry. A great site, set in the North Woods , which means no cars, trains or planes overhead-just the sounds of birds and the wind in the trees.

Those of you anxiously awaiting Barnbougle Dunes will have to wait a while -- there's still no funding.  It's possible I'll finish five other courses before we get to it, if in fact it ever happens.

Dramatic things are happening with that flat site in Lubbock -- I predict it's going to shock some of you.  We may be able to hit balls around it by October or November of this year, but it won't be open until Summer 2003.

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Just came in from a meeting with my contractor for a local job, who just happens to be building for Tom at TT.  Tom, please explain your "shaping by backhoe" work out there! And promise me you aren't keeping the center pivot irrigation! :)

Should also add that I don't know who you are TexSport, but I like the way you think!

John Conley,

Look for Windsong to open sometime in 2003, it is possible if we have a wet spring and summer that it may not open till 2004 but management is hoping otherwise.  John, I am curious who you had a chance to walk the course with?  As far as it hosting some prestigous events, I can't say but what I will say is that private golf in Minnesota may not be the same, atleast for a few years to come.  There will be some pretty impressive holes on the course with spectacular back drops (amphitheater type if you will) and impressive natural rolls.  Later to come as construction commences.

A good thread...  So - how did these anticapted courses turn out?

What new courses are you excited about in 2006 and beyond?

2006:

Ballyneal
Prairie Club (maybe 2007?)
Dismal River (maybe 2007?)
Erin Hills
Sebonack
Stone Eagle (perhaps late 2005?)

I think Tumble Creek opens later this year...

There was an earlier mention of Bulle Rock II here.  When I was at Bulle Rock in early May, I was told that under the new ownership there was no longer a plan for a second course.  I believe the land is now slated for housing.

I heard somewhere that there is a We-Ko-Pa II in the works.  I recently played We-Ko-Pa and thought it was one of the better desert courses I've ever played (I have a fairly limited list.)  I'd be interested in a sequal.

C&C are doing WeKoPa II. Construction is about to start. Could open in late 2006.
