Aerial of the Day #426 - Updated
« on: April 27, 2005, 09:43:09 AM »
Here's another much updated AOTD, as the original was taken
long before the course was eventually completed.
Ecoterrorists held up the completeion of the course for years,
as is normal for this part of the country.

In fact, to compare, here's the original AOTD #426. This
routing was already in place when the architect(s) took over
this project:

That hole at far lower right looks like a mirror image of
another hole by this design team at Verbalizing Twig in my
partial namesake town in the desert southwest.

Many of you will get a chance to meet half of this design team in 19 days.

Isn't this the part of the country where Lizzie Grubman drives
her White Trash Compactor (aka her Mercedes)?

I'm amazed at how close the tees are to the previous greens, particularly for that group of holes at bottom center.

the ecoterrorists had quite a field day with the clubhouse as well.
Local legend has it Alec Baldwin sheepishly backed down when it was pointed out that his private residence had more bathrooms than the proposed clubhouse

Andy-one of my favorite features of this course is its' extreme walkability

Last time I played a road hole I walked across the street to get my ball out of someones yard.

I know what course this is, but only
because I cheated and went back and
looked at Scott's AOTD summary.

Think directional course...

Jeff:  I had a question about the walkability
also.  All holes do seem to be close together, so
that's cool... but which is the front side and which is
the back?  No matter how I look at it I can't get
over that there's a pretty long walk from 9 green
to 10 tee.  I must have it wrong though... please
explain.

Tom-you don't have it wrong-
There are 2 pretty good walks
from the clubhouse to #1 tee (in the upper left along the road)
and from #9 green to # 10 tee(dogleg right just right of road)
the property is small so the 2 "pretty good walks" are not that long 200-300 yards at most

Jeff - cool.  Yeah, as I looked at this
in scale - that is for dork layman me
in comparison to a golf hole - these
long walks didn't look THAT long.  So
it would seem to be no big deal.  Still
it did puzzle me....

I'm guessing also there's not much
traffic on those roads?  Looks like
slices off of 1, 9, 11 (if I have those
correct) would bring windshields
into play...

 ;)

Just before doing the original AOTD of this course, I was
lucky enough to get a first-person account on the story of
the course from the "heart" (French pun for redanman) of this design team.

The other half of the design team has been Masterful (twice) in other pursuits.

Lance,  this is Easthampton on Long Island.  I don't "reveal"
the courses in these Updated versions because they're
just "repeats", so to speak, and have been revealed in the
past.  All are listed here:

...though many are not available due to my ISP changing a
bunch of my sites that hosted them.
