I think it just got tougher for BC to compete, and for my friend Pat Mucci's Irish to win the playoff or non-playoff National Championship. From Dick Weiss in today's NY Daily News:

It's now clear why Meyer chose to coach Florida instead of Notre Dame, even though he is a devout Catholic and had spent time in South Bend as an assistant with the Irish. It may have had something to do with the $2 million AD Jeremy Foley threw at him in 2004 when Meyer was the hottest young coach in the country at Utah, but more likely it had to do with the potential to win a national championship.
At Notre Dame, that idea has been downgraded to a pipe dream.
At Florida, it quickly has become a reality.
The 40-year-old Meyer, who fell in love with Florida football when he used to watch Steve Spurrier's Fun 'N Gun offense in the '90s, always has had a vision of what it would be like to run a creative spread offense of his own, with the lightning-bolt speed of superb SEC athletes.
But he never could have anticipated the total carnage the Gators would create in this high-stakes game.
