The Things You Find...

Just north of the Fort Washington Interchange of the PA Turnpike is this interesting "Golf" feature...

Any ideas?

Note the "clubs" shaped bunker in what appears to be a driving range type thing.

Kyle,

Neat image! Your discovery prompted me to find the estate course located beside Atlantic CC on Long Island, I came across another such course nearby;  http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.881522,-72.401040&spn=0.003229,0.005289&t=k&hl=en (also looks like Rees Jones work). Here is the course your post reminded me of; http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.941839,-72.331914&spn=0.003229,0.005289&t=k&hl=en

(Sorry, you have to paste the link, for some reason it doesn't all show up when clicked upon ???)

Tyler,

The neat thing about the complex I found is that you can get about a dozen or so different holes out of the various greens and tee combinations... very neat little design if I do say so myself.

I think I may take a drive to see if I can catch a glimpse of it tomorrow after work since Talamore is about 5 miles from there.

Kyle,

The same can be said of the estate course next door to Atlantic CC. With five greens, and at least eight distinct teeing grounds, I can see 14 holes.

Is that Tom Paul's house? ;D

Since we are into the satelite spying mood, can anyone, or has anyone tried to find that mysterious hidden golf course along the Georgia coast that was written about here on GCA and disputed some years ago?  I was one of the disbelievers.  Yet, we all know that the Sheep Ranch isn't a fantasy, so maybe... ::)
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

I recall Mackenzie (maybe Tillie) had a drawing of an estate course that looked quite interesting in one of his books.

Kyle

I think this may be the estate of Leonard Abramson, the founder of the HMO US Healthcare that was acquired by Aetna a few years ago for almost 1B$.

Amelia Rorer, the former teaching pro at Commonwealth, told me she used to give him lessons there.
