OK, I've created a web page and started loading the best of the photos I took on my KP-IV and Monterey trip. So far there's just the "Saturday at Stevinson Ranch" stuff you've already seen and the Pasatiempo rounds from Monday. I'll try to get my few Spyglass pictures loaded tomorrow and add Cypress Point and a couple from the "Wolf game at the Breezy Shore" by the end of the week.

Huck wrote the captions for me. That's his words, not mine.

I would have said "impishly irresistable".

Love it.  Great site, Brent.  I'm just honored to be a part of it.

And I am devilishly handsome.

Interesting hole location on #8 at Pasatiempo ... I dare to say that if this was late summer and greens were a bit firmer, you could not  get the ball within 20 feet of that location.

Brent, all I can say is Big John Vander Borght looks like all he needs is a moptop blond mullet hairdo and an 84 Lumber golf shirt to do his best John Daly impression.  Does Ace McBride have a contract with the Chateau du Chapeau to wear the same bucket hat every round? ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Jeff Goldman made birdie on #8 in the afternoon round at Pasa, thanks no doubt to the sanded greens. I missed in the left fringe both times and ended up with a par and a bogey.

John VB is as impressive in person as in the picture. He is not in the habit of getting cheated on any shot, even with a short iron.

And now the announcement that many have been waiting for. A collection of my Cypress Point photos is now at http://transbay.net/~bhutto/NorCal/CypressPoint/WednesdayCypress.html although the Spyglass Hill and MPCC pictures will have to wait until tomorrow.

Dick, I'm trying to lose weight so that I don't look too much like him.

I will point out that the tee shot pictured ended up almost perfect.

Brent, you should have seen when I really hit it hard.  Back in the mid-80s I was 15 yards longer with my irons with blades and   Titleist balatas.

Great photos, Brent.  Very nostalgic!

On #13, it looks like the hole the day before was cut in the same place as your photo.  I was about 30' short of the hole and unfortunately, regrettably, shoved my putt to the right of that ridge was almost on my line, and wound up some 15' to the right of my line!  Bummer.   :P  Then I putted a bit firmly and had to make a 6'er to avoid the dreaded four putt!

Great photos, Brent. I was just thinking, as I scrolled through the Cypress set, that you needed to hand your camera to someone else to get a few shots of yourself in there, and then, lo and behold, there's the shot of you on the 16th tee.

I love the shot of Paul strolling toward the 17th green. Very cool.

The amazing thing about the JohnV swing is that with all that length, it still looks rather graceful. Contrast that with my compact slash at the ball and you'll understand why I don't like tees perched on cliffs. :)

And when did they remove the iceplant fronting the 16th green?  I recall it being there in the early '90s ...

Bill,

It may well be that your putting experience was exactly the same as Paul's. My mind was reeling from my bunker but that looks like pretty much where he ended up for his second putt.

Mike,

Yes, I broke a solemn promise to Brian Gracely and did not go for the glory on 16. I did however hit driver on #9 which was the other part of the promise. That breeze in my face told me that all the bravado in the world doesn't make up for a 88mph swing speed. I damn near got my par the chickens--- way with a good 6-iron and a lipped out putt.

George,

You would have needed motion-sickness pills before the tee shot on #17. I've posted a poem before about the guy who filmed every moment of his vacation but was never in it, he would never be in it.

Brent,

Great pics.  However, I think 3 pics are mislabeled.  Starting with the hole with "This is like the fifth or six fairway,...." and the following two pics, all are of the 11th hole and green, I believe.

great pictures Brent!  look forward to your Spy. photos

and you are a very discriminating photographer, I never noticed you taking all those pictures of me!!

and strolling on 17 or on "golf's greatest walk"-- from 14 to 15 there per SHivas or anywhere on that course is my greatest golfing thrill yet!!

man, what a place!  literally a dream come true ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Brent,
Great photos, but some errata in the narrative. That was my ball in birdie range on 15, but a woeful effort left a short par putt. My great escape from the beach ended up lost in the iceplant and all those miraculous recovery shots in the wolf game had me pulling money from the wallet. All in all, a great time was had by all.

That is a great picture of Paul strolling toward 17 green.  And Paul is right, there are a lot of great walks at the Sistine Chapel of Golf.

But of course, it's been mentioned many times on here.. and Wayne Freeman wrote a great story that's on his KGO-tv news web site about this.. the walk of all walks is through the grove of trees from 15 green to 16 tee.

That might be what you mean, Paul.  But 14 green over to 15 tee, crossing 17 Mile Drive, is not exactly chopped liver also.

 ;)

In any case, fantastic pics, Brent.  One can just feel the joy and excitement oozing from you guys.  You captured it all perfectly.

TH

ps - Mike B. - good call re the pin they got on 8 Pasa.  That is a site for infinite putting without a doubt.

Well, notice I didn't assume you were mistaken... 14 to 15 is a damn cool one also... the same sort of anticipation and then world-famous hole exploding before you that 15 to 16 gives....

Mike, I boinked it off the rise on the left and it rolled to about a foot.  Made the putt too.  Made a longer putt for 2 on 15.   :D  Course, when it was on the line, couldn't do squat.
That was one hellacious beaver.

Is that the green at pasa where that golfer was killed? I see a catch fence lurking back there. Also have they removed trees behind the green to open up that backdrop? Looks excellent.
