by KYW's Al Novack
Two Norristown men wanted in connection with a January 17th murder are in custody following a police chase.
The chase began early Friday in Abington Township and ended in Upper Moreland, at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club.
Abington police chief William Kelly says Abington officers had received information that the two Norristown men were in the Abington area.
Around midnight, an Abington officer spotted the suspects' car and tried to halt it, but the suspects sped off. A chase ensued.
Minutes later the suspects crashed their car along Edge Hill Road at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club, where both suspects took off on foot.
Police from Abington, Cheltenham, and Upper Moreland converged on the area. Chief Kelly tells what happened next:
"The K-9 from Upper Moreland, along with officers from Abington and Cheltenham, nabbed one man in some underbrush. About an hour later, at 1:34am, K-9 officers spotted the second suspect. A shootout began and some 12 to 24 shots were exchanged."
The second man was wounded. He is now under treatment at Abington Hospital for two non-life threatening bullet wounds.
The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old Jamar Robinson and 18-year-old Tezzie Dunlap. They were wanted in the murder of Michael McKay of Norristown. Both men now face a long list of additional charges.
