Looking for some interesting places to play around Paris.  Is Chantilly out of the question?  Anyone know of any others worth a visit.  Thanks

Chantilly is not out of the question.  Its about an hour ride north of paris, beautiful!  The Chantilly castle is also about a mile from the golf course.  I think some say it is private, but my dad and I played for about 75 bucks a couple of years ago.

There was a nice post w/pictures here a couple of months ago on one of the courses not far from Paris. I cannot remember the name of the course - maybe Monfortaine(?). Do a search for Paris and see what comes up or scroll thru 20 pages and see if you can find it.

Yes, there were some pictures of Morfontaine, but it's not easy to get on - very private.  Fontainebleau, St Cloud, Racing Club (La Boulie), are the other big names amongst the older clubs.  You'll also be advised, I'm sure, to get out of Paris as far as Les Bordes which seems to be one of the few courses able to thrill traditionalists and modernists equally.  Best, though, is to see if Stephen Okula sees this post.  He's a Super based at a course (Joyenval) west of Paris, knows all the good courses and gave me sound advice when I was in Paris in July and was very helpful.

If you are a member somewhere in the states, you can have the club pro call or E-mail a couple of good clubs in Paris. My friend's Club is St. Germaine. The closer club is St Cloud, which is virtually in Paris. Most other clubs are quite far away, including Morfontaine, which will not accept an outsider unless sponsored by a member.

You should expect to pay a healthy price -around 120 Euros-for an unaccompanied round of golf. (You should forget about the weekends, the courses will have 'member' only play on them.)
