Dave:
Indeed I had expected the Femmes to be there due to their Milwaukee roots, and while I'm a big Airplane fan, I always thought Starship was a little too formulaic and not nearly improvisational enough. Which gets me to thinking . . . . Isn't the reason we all prefer strategic golf to the formulaic penal/heroic/US Open set-up crap a function of our desires to think outside the box and make it up as we go along? Find the new angles? Play the funky shots? Don't you think that abandoning the conformism of the 50's and returning to the free flow of thought from the Jazz Age were what Pete Dye, Jimi Hendrix, and Jerry Garcia were all about in the late 60's and early 70's? And on a competely different note, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Biltmore in Barrington, IL where I have to play all my Chicago-land golf when we travel to see the in-laws. . . .
