Why some things are better off left alone...

From GolfDigest.com

THE RESTORATION PHENOMENON
Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones have both left their imprint on the South Course at Oakland Hills, with the latter restoring the original work of the former. Ron Whitten explains the restoration phenomenon using Oakland Hills as an example of why some things are better off left alone.

Mike

Maybe I read it wrongly, but that article is saying that somne things are NOT better off left alone, for example the original 1917 Ross layout at Oakland Hills.  Having seen how great the Ross/RT Jones course played last week, I would have to agree.

Am I missing something? I read the article and never saw anything about Kiawah, or its new spa/resort, The Sanctuary (which is now open).

Art Hills did some work here as well. I actually like the course very much but do not remember everything that was done during the restorations. I thought Trent Jones did most of the greens. My hats is off to team golf at its best. Captain Goodale should be proud of being one of the few Americans to win against the Euro's this year.
