JC,

I don't know which Danny Gatton you are referring to, but Danny Gatton "Master of the Telecaster" and "The Greatest Unknown Guitarist in the World" committed suicide in October of 1994.  He inherited the second title from Roy Buchanan who also played the telecaster and committed suicide in jail. Roy once turned down joining the Stones because he didn't want to have to learn all those songs.

GM & PGA Head Golf Professional
Signal Point Club (A sporty, little nine hole course designed by Robert Bruce Harris in 1963.  Two sets of tees on each hole and two pins in every green.)

UPDATE:

Left Signal Point Club in 2005 after four years.  For anyone traveling to The Dunes Club or any of the South Bend courses, Signal is a fun spot to play.

During my tenure as a golf professional I caddied at Arthur Hills' Golf Club of Georgia, Clyde Johnston's Southerness Club outside Atlanta (NLE), helped open Hurdzan and Frye's Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Bob Dustin designed Morris Park CC in South Bend,  Tom Bedelow's Meridian Hills CC in Indianapolis, opened the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame (what a treat getting to know Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw, Jeff Bradley and the rest of the crew) then finished at Signal Point.

In 2005 began a career in orthopedic implant sales with Biomet then with Zimmer.  I'm settled just outside of South Bend if anyone rolls through town and would like to get together!

Born and residing in Portland, OR
30 years old
no wife, no kids, no pets

I've been a gca junkie since first finding a copy of Hunter's book on the University Library bookshelf back in 1992.
Worked for Landscapes Unlimited as a college intern on a Jeff Brauer course in Davis, CA called Wildhorse and a David Druzisky/Jay Morrish design outside of Las Vegas called Dragon Ridge.  Even pushed some dirt with the Deere 850!

Played golf since I was 11 years old, participated on the golf team in high school.  I have no current affiliations to any clubs because I'm too busy and too poor.  Play to about a 15 on most days.  Can boast about scoring a hole in one!!
Currently on a mission to play and photograph every course in my region.  Working on a website of my own about gca.
What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--
