Title: PCC #3 17th hole

Is this hole among Pinehurst's best? I'd wager most here would take 4 and move on.

Any history on this hole would be appreciated.

The 17th hole on #3 is good. You need to layup or be very aggressive for hopes of a flat lie. Otherwise, it's a downhill lie to a green that, if missed, makes for a difficult up and down for par. 4 is a good score on the 17th. I believe there are par 4's on #3 that rival or are better than the 17th;


3rd, 10th, 15th, 18th are better and the 5th, 9th, 16th are equal.
