...believe it or not, old Christmas Trees have a great use.
As we bemoan the loss of dune habitats, and the lack of "supply" of future great linksland sites for our game, this story caught my eye.
(Especially given the lobbys against such developments as Coul Links)

Also struck me that this might be a longer term option to build a natural structure to protect such courses as Golspie?

Obvously only those with duneland erosion, couldn't counteract cliff erosion.

Worth investigating for some clubs/courses?

Thanks, that's great to hear, a wonderful and unique course in a special location that is certainly worth protecting by every means possible.

EDIT - Just took a look on Google Maps and the planting is extensive and impressive, worth a peak if others are interested to see it in action

Wow, what a great idea. I wonder if it could work on the pebble ridge at Westward Ho! but they aren't dunes.

It begs the question, could one plan in advance a widening of the dune system 3.5 km long for an out and back 18 Hole over say 15 years?
Could be a win-win situation at a very low cost.
