Hi,
As Ed noted, I am wrapped up in rehab for my ACL reconstruction -- that triple mobius with the honeydew landing didn't quite stick! Really, it was a seemingly benign mix-up getting off the chair, where the tail of my ski was on the tail of the person left of me and as he took off, he took my leg with him, I went down with my leg twisting, and in slo-mo so no release -- not good. It is so lame, it is embarrassing.
Anyway, the issue is Meadow Club. It is a true restoration, where we are reclaiming lost green surface that has been sitting there for 75 years (the original, very large greens were shrunk immediately to make it through the Depression without folding up the club).
The bunkers had been renovated about 20-25 years ago and not with any sympathy to the original style. We are restoring all the bunkers to MacKenzie's original style, which is quite different at Meadow than at other courses he did, but our photos are letting us restore them faithfully.
As to the trees, the club planted many 40-50 years ago like so many other clubs and we are working on removing them, but face resistance, as is typical at many older clubs and new projects. Once the features are fully restored in 2 years, I hope to be able to do some more work on the tree situation -- hopefully the redwoods will be worth something and that will offset the cost of removal.
I copied a bunch of photos to Tommy N. and hopefully we can get those out so you can see the new stuff and compared with the original also. Much of what you see above is not current.
All the best,
Mike
