Slightly OT: New method to attracting business?
« on: December 05, 2024, 01:54:51 PM »
Buddy of mine sent me a link with a perhaps new way of drawing business:

P.S.  Can we get an edit to the DS  2 definition to include drink beer or blaze a few with your buddies?  ;D

Western Mass/Berkshires has a staggering amount of dispensaries and I’m aware of guys that P&P(Purchase & Play) on a regular basis. :D

I think it's fine, and if the profit margins are equal or higher than F&B then go for it. If it keeps more courses open for all of us to enjoy, I'm fine with it.

Does the modern stuff wear off fast enough for people to be able to drive after the round?

You would have to ask the P&P guys ;)

I figure if clubs have no issue selling copious amounts of alcohol to customers from a liability perspective, not much difference there.

That feels true Kalen, but societal expectations are still pretty old-fashioned. My parents (and probably lots of folks like them) think weed is much worse than being drunk, so I could see things not working out the way you describe, especially where the laws are somewhat vague.

It's a shame, especially given alcohol accounts for far more drunk driving deaths and other alcoholism related issues..

Biggest drawback to pot on the course would likely be the time slowing distortion effect where a 4 hour round would feel like 6-7.  I know a lot of GCAers wouldn't be up for that.  ;)

That could work out in our favor though. If a bunch of people think it's taking a long time, maybe they'll speed up to make up the perceived difference, and we'll get a bunch of 3-hour rounds! The speed demons would be happy.
