Re: M&E building new 12 hole course

This thread to me shows "that good design of a golf course" should be that a course has a returning loop of 9 or similar holes to cater for those golfers wanting play in limited time.

Creating options to golf for 60-90-120-150 minutes or the full THREE HUNDRED is a plus both for desire and commercial reasons.
A combination of whats good for golf and good for turf.

I’ve long had an interest in the idea of 12 hole golf courses. If the  Prestwick model had been adopted instead of the St Andrews one 150 years ago we would all be playing 12 hole rounds and in my view golf would be none the worse for it.

I stumbled across this club online of which I had never previously heard. My apologies if this has already been covered but a search for Blacknest revealed absolutely nothing.

I 100% agree golf could/should consider building more 12/13/14 hole tracks.  Better for time and energy and even families

Resurrecting a thread from last month...another 12-hole project that will commence at the end of the September is the blow-up and reconstruction of Old Dane golf course in Dakota City, NE.  Those that attended the Mashie at Landmand may have played Old Dane, the 9-hole course that is also owned by the Andersen family.   There were articles (see links at the bottom of Old Dane Re-design webpage: https://www.olddanegc.com/redesign ) last April about the project.

I'm interested to see how this project turns out.  As noted in the golfcoursearchitecture.net article; architect Trevor Dormer performed the shaping of the #4 green at Landmand.  Every time I play Hole #4, I marvel that they built the green that way.  It's so different.  The proposed 12-hole course will be walking only when it opens.
