Apparently “fescue” is no longer a species of grass, but a height of cut…or uncut, as it were.

Indeed, hell-acious weather to boot!  ;D

P.S.  Horschel seems to be embracing these conditions the best..

I was hoping Brown would be in the final group with Horschel. The double bogey on the last hurt after such a gutsy round.

The golf course is compelling with the wind today. The golf has been scattered. The commentary is annoying. Are they trying to force interest? If they would shut up, the course and golf being played will speak for itself.

Maybe NBC is waiting for a story to emerge tomorrow or late on Sunday's round?

So use your mute button. Do your own commentary (a couple of us did on Thursday and had a good time).

There was some remarkably good golf played today, both early when the weather was good and later when the weather was bad.

Not sure when I’ve enjoyed watching a golf telecast more than this one. Equal parts of wonderful golf course, inspiring play and Mother Nature.

A relatively unknown player who is on the first page of the leaderboard is a throwback to players of the 70’s. Plays fast, smokes faster…the only thing missing from his arsenal is a white styrofoam cup of black coffee.

A player improves his score from the 2nd round to the 3rd round by 14 strokes. On his outward 9!!!!

Drivers off the deck into par 4’s.

World’s #1 and 272 ranked players are on the aforementioned first page of the leaderboard.

Grab the popcorn! And looks like quite a few birdies thus far.

Definitely not boring today.

Currently this is the most exciting and interesting major of the year.

A difficult course. A tight leader board. Some wind and rain.  Why can't NBC build a compelling narrative for this Open?

Original post made on Friday morning. NBC didn't need to build a compelling story. As usual The Open (and most majors) build their own compelling stories.

Terrific event and anything but boring. It was great to see Schauffele shoot 65 to win instead of having someone lose with poor play down the stretch.

He played great. Took control and never looked like he was nervous down the stretch.

Kudos to Xander.   If rose made a couple putts on the back he would have been right there.  He looked so determined and in the moment with confidence.  Xander made big back go back birdies on 13 and 14 with rose missing at least one from 10 feet.  Great tourney, combined with the 22' open at toc and the now last major of the year has provided great drama.

one of my pet peeves "He's golfing his ball well"
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

“That shot took great courage.” Please, let’s leave courage for first responders and heroes.

I agree with you 100% but I often doubt whether I have the guts to hit the required shot under pressure.
