Is Rae's Creek high this year?
« on: April 13, 2024, 09:37:32 PM »
I don't know if it is just this year but it seems that the water goes above the mowed second cut.  Looks beautiful but do they raise the water level for this effect?  How do they cut that water edge?

It’s definitely more of a ‘Pond’ than a ‘Creek’ these days! See how still it is.
They obviously manage the water levels all along the few holes it abuts. You can see at least one of the control sluices on the left side of the pond at #11. There’s probably at least another one under the covered bridge.
The wee burn that runs along the side of #13 is a tributary of the creek which is now culverted across #12, but was originally an open watercourse.
I actually did a bit of a deep dive on ‘Rae’s Creek’. Quite interesting historically and there’s a cool aqueduct and recreation area involved too!
