I assume it’s classic market segmentation. Calloway or Taylormade can sell iron sets at a reduced margin to lower income consumers, while protecting their brand via white label and a limited run. Kirkland maintains Costco’s happy/loyal customers.

Taylor Made recently placed their Adams irons on retailers shelves for $599 steel and $699 graphite with a 60 day return policy.
