Reverse Old Course
« on: November 30, 2023, 01:45:15 PM »
For those that haven’t already seen this on social media…

I can imagine it might be a little over-subscribed(!) but it’s great to see the Links Trust giving more people the opportunity to experience the Old Course in reverse.

If you are planning a trip to St. Andrews, DO THIS!

It's a great experience and does not come along very often.

It's been on Tiger's hit list forever - who knows, you might even run into him there.

The idea is lovely, nostalgic, romantic BUT. It is a really very very poor alternative.
Reverse 1 is good, Reverse 3 is good, Reverse 4 is good, Reverse 5 is good, Reverse 6 is better....REST IS PANTS as it is now set up.
A combination of whats good for golf and good for turf.
The Players Club, Cumberwell Park, The Kendleshire, Oake Manor, Dainton Park, Forest Hills, Erlestoke, St Cleres.

Is this due to height of grass cut in certain areas?

Some of it is yes. 2 the green is crazy being left it it just carried on to normal 2 would be ok. Everything works good till 5 then the 6th back from tee 14 to 12th is not right, the loop from 8-11 is all crossing each other. the hole back to the 6th green you drive into rough ground and then its blind, next one is all wrong, then the next holes the fairways all run out with quite long carries to the green over rough. I think probably its a great back nine in both directions but the current front nine is only good one way.
