Trump name coming off a NYC golf course in multimillion dollar deal with Bally's.
Ferry Point is partially visible from the Whitestone Bridge.

Former President Donald Trump’s name is coming off a golf course in the Bronx that had been the subject of a legal battle with the City of New York following the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Bally’s is buying Trump out of his lease, which allows him to operate Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, sources familiar with the deal told ABC News.
Terms of the deal were not immediately clear but the sources said it’s well into the millions.
"We are supportive of the transfer of the Ferry Point Golf Course to Bally’s, and we are confident they will deliver a high-quality golfing experience to New Yorkers," the New York City Parks Department said in a statement.
"I am delighted that Trump's name will no longer deface city parkland," New York City Comptroller Brad Lander said.

Putting politics aside is it worth the $265 greens fee?

There a plethora of other courses that I could play first at that price before I play Ferry Point. Most people I speak to have said it's not that great.

It's a very good golf course but I wouldn't pay more than a buck fifty to play again

Ferry Point is a very good course. Given it's location and what other high end courses in NA are charging I'm surprised it's that low. Is it worth it?? All depends upon the size of your wallet and your comfort level accessing it!

I played it once, and it was pretty good, if not that memorable hole-to-hole.  5+ years later I don't remember much other than the bridge-dominated 18th.

I feel like where it is (feels very NYC), what it cost to build for better or worse, the nice views at the end, the upscale feel...$265 is not really a fleecing, provided you splurge for golf once in a while for that price.

I'd say it's worth a play, just to see if you hate it as much as you hope, or maybe you'll be surprised.

I get $265 is a big ask "just to see," but that's my take.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

The bridge is the backdrop of several holes. Here's a link to photos of all 18 holes: https://www.flickr.com/photos/golfcoursepix/albums/72157656293678318

As someone who has never been to NY those views are terrific. Now that I know my greenfees aren't going in the pocket of a criminal traitor if I ever visit NY I would pay the cost to play there. 8)
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

I heard Hunter was looking at Trump's portfolio .. problem was the 10% to the big guy off the top .. #s didn't work. Golf margins are tough.

if you live in or around NYC...whether it's worth it depends upon the value you put on the 2-3 hours you save in pace of play and  getting to and from a course of comparable quality.   i haven't played pound ridge in a while but i think it's at a similar price point and over an hour north.  public access golf around NYC is just very difficult.

I'm probably the only person who doesn't live in New York who has played all of the NYC Munis (except Kissena Park that I'd like to get to this winter), and none of them are remotely at the price point of Ferry Point, even though some of them like Split Rock have better architecture, if not conditioning and scenery.

I'm less than 2 hours away and haven't been back after an initial visit when it first opened but suspect I may give it another chance now as market forces and ownership ego have changed.

Btw.. no disrespect to an awesome architect but Pound Ridge is a Doak Scale 0.

Two things I distinctly remember from my visit were the Spanish music playing in the park as I drove into the course and the enormous cemetery which borders one side of the course.

I have heard that there were some serious groups forming to buy Trump's courses - I could definitely see his overseas courses to be a very interesting investment.

This is not factual because I have never gone and rated the course . . . but part of the reason I have not gone is because I'm afraid you are right and I don't want to disrespect my mentor.

Nope Mike we’re an army of two.  I’ve done all of NYCs publics.

Doak 0 for pound ridge might be a little harsh.

Tim, at what point do you just stop, we get it. You don’t like Trump. The fact is they all suck. How about we stick to golf.

When Traitor Trumpsky's name comes off every golf course he owns to pay for his legal fees and he starts wearing an orange jumpsuit. Then I will stop responding to posts that mention his name because every time his name is associated with golf it is a stain on the game. They don't all suck just the scum Republicans. :P

Mike,

Never played it, safe to say I never will.

But anyone who uses rocks and boulders this prominently on a golf course will always get at least a few points in my book!  ;)

Chris,

I should have known better!  Nice going!

Kalen,

I'm debating whether to dare open that Pound Ridge link and put myself into traumatic flashback mode for the weekend.

Mike-Good to see you last Saturday! Let me know if you are going back up to Ferry Point as I’d like to check it out.
