Cabot Revelstoke and Wild Fires

I read with sadness that a fire fighter died fighting wild fires near Revelstoke, British Columbia. No greater sacrifice exists.

That got me to thinking about the course and the town. Are the fires in reach of the town, or does the Columbia river provide a buffer?

News reports did not specify which fire she was fighting, but there are two out-of-control fires within 30 miles of Revelstoke. She was 19 years old. My condolences to family and friends.
