The best hole in Australia.
6 at Royal Melbourne.

Only if coming back to the clubhouse means within 260 metres of it  ;D

Tadmarton Heath comes back to the house at 2 & 7.

Notts comes back at 3.

All are good holes.

The original version of High Pointe came back at 2, and so will the new version- to a different clubhouse location!

14 at Woking is as close to the clubhouse as any hole I can think of.

15 at Tyneside, 13 at Crail Balcomie, 5 at Huntercombe

My third into Woking 14 was one of the most terrifying shots that I have played. I could not decide which was the worst option: skulling my wedge into the crowd on the patio, going over by just enough that the crowd would watch me figure out what to do next, or chunking it to avoid the first two options knowing that the crowd would get a great chuckle.

When I played it the pin was in the back. Terrifying but great fun.

#16 at Myopia, a terrific downhill par 3 where the green runs away and you can easily hit the clubhouse with your teeball.

#7 at the Bev, one of the terrific set of par 5s at Beverly.

Further south, #12 at Hideout returns to the clubhouse. A beautiful, but perhaps also very “Florida” golf hole.

It's interesting watching guys play from the patio. They are pretty much ignored! One guy wouldn't even move, he laughed and said figure it out. Maybe I was with a tough crowd 😎.

In thinking about this thread, it really struck me how many of the very good to great courses I have played do not return to the clubhouse. And I do not mean just traditional links courses. In no particular order, PH2, Ballyneal, Yale, CPC, Swinley Forest, SS Red and Blue, Pine Needles, Southern Pines, Sleepy Hollow, Pac Dunes, Bandon Trails, Woking, Old Mac, and Broadmoor East all do not.

Maybe that is why the front 9 is often referred to as to the outward 9?

Woking?  It's featured heavily in this thread.  Very true otherwise - there are a lot of great courses that don't return
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

#2 at Riviera gets pretty close. So does #15 at Double Eagle and #11 at Moraine. All pretty good holes in my opinion.

New Castle CC #7 I believe it might have been #9 at one time and what is #9 was #2 and also came back to the clubhouse.
Now called Avalon Field Club.

I'll add the 16th at Myopia Hunt to the list. (Oops. Only read the first page.)

Pine Valley #4

In fact they had a player there play off the roof
Archie,

Couldn’t you argue the location of #4 green at Pine Valley is unfortunate. Didn’t that ruin a perfectly good round of golf?

Or maybe not. Just joking.

But, it’s a small world. In 1989 I moved to Long Beach, California and started playing with my next door neighbor. He and his wife were both East Coast people like myself.

So, one night we were having drinks and got into Pine Valley stories whereupon the wife said:

“I know who Woody Platt was”.

When I asked how she knew, she told us Woody was her father’s favorite golfing buddy!

Not surprised to see several Tillinghast courses mentioned here, including the 2nd at Wissahickon.

Tillinghast once wrote "Probably it has not occurred to some that it is desirable to turn in the direction of home with the second hole.  True, the advantage of this might only be apparent on tournament occasions, when matches go to extra holes, and even if three had to be played, the contestants would find themselves not very far from the clubhouse at the conclusion".
