Lyn Nelson, R.I.P.
« on: December 20, 2022, 04:37:40 PM »
Shocked and saddened to learn of Lyn Nelson's passing at 64 years. She had a long and varied career in golf, serving as CEO of the NCGA from 2008 to 2013. As a player, she was a teammate of Julie Inkster at San Jose State and a semi-finalist at the 2002 USGA Mid-Am.

Sorry to hear this.  I met Lyn two or three times over the years; she was very interested in the idea of restoring Sharp Park.  One of the true "lifers" in the world of golf.  If you're under 40, you probably can't appreciate that, but those who have devoted their lives to golf certainly do.

I was told that Lyn was a big supporter of Gleneagles GC (the 9-holer in McLaren Park operated by Tom Hsieh) during her tenure with the SF Rec and Park department.  RIP.
