Pebble or Pasatiempo
« on: November 16, 2022, 06:12:19 PM »
I had posted a few weeks ago about Pebble and since then I have talked to a lot of people about a west coast trip.  If you could play only one round would you play Pebble or Pasatiempo?

I played Pasa years before I played Pebble. I wouldn’t do a thing different.

Pebble for the setting and the history.

Pebble.

I love Pasatiempo, but you can play there much more economically (relatively) almost any time.  Just avoid Pasa in 2023 and 2024 during the greens reconstruction.

In 1994, I first played Pasa on a trip to Monterey in order to get a third round in while avoiding the high prices at the resort.  Boy was I surprised!

I first played Pasa with a dead guy, a red guy, and a rules guy. A perfect day.

Loved Pasa but my vote is for Pebble, if I had only one course to play for the rest of my life it would be Pebble
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

When are you going? Nine holes at a time will be closed at Pasatiempo the next two April through Decembers.

I hope they do the back nine first. It’s my favorite.

No question, Pebble Beach. How many majors has Pasa held? There is a reason the greenfees at Pebble are over twice(3x?) as high as Pasa and I like Pasa. It's just not the experience of Pebble Beach.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

The only time a “decision” is ever needed is when the answer isn’t obvious.  If you are a golfer, this thread is a good example  ;)

Never played Pasa but there are only a few places I would take over Pebble. Cypress is one...............

Barney,

I'm glad to hear you've softened and seen the light on Pasa from a year ago..

I think this is almost disrespectful of Pebble.  Love Pasa's greens, however that is one of the biggest strengths of Pebble is their tiny greens, especially when they host the US open. Scenery/history pushes Pebble from an advantage to a landslide IMO. But, that is why we have a discussion group and not a listening group.

This is the kind of question you would expect from a child. I thought it would be nice to talk up Pasa in case that is where his roads lead him.

Until this, I figured you'd forgotten to log out on one of the Playa del Rey public library computers.

Pasatiempo is a pure golf experience and a great one

Pebble is an experience for golf and all your senses. It’s just a great day

You can’t make a wrong choice, but I’d pick Pebble…….

Pebble unequivocally……. Pasa is one of my top 5 favorites but there is nothing like Pebble and Monterey (unless you can swing Cypress).

Walking down the second fairway with my old boss, caddy following behind. As we reached the end of the foliage to our right, revealing a view of the ocean, Jerry sped up and walked by us, saying "now you know why I wake up every morning with a smile on my face." Pasatiempo was an awesome golf course, but Pebble Beach is Pebble Beach...

Pasa's greens fees are $345 to walk.  Pebble is $595.

Probably going in July and I posed the question because I may only have time for one round because it will be a long road trip
