Mike,
I picked what I think are the strongest holes in each slot on the card with a view to having a reasonable spread of 3s, 4s, and 5s. I also gave some consideration to variety of length and type of hole as well (shows how good I think OM 3, 18, and PD 17 are given that they are based on templates). Par 5s were a challenge; there are a contingent of strong ones across the property, but they fell up against some of the best holes (BD 3, PD3, BT 3, BT 16, and PD 18). My alternate “routing” would have BT 3, PD6, and Preserve 9.
Have a terrific trip, and I will be alert to see how your views compare to mine.
Tom,
I appreciate your picking BT 4 given the splendor of PD 4. BD 4 and SR 4 are very good too.
As noted, the 6 slot was a really difficult choice. Yes, I wanted to represent Preserve for the reason you state, but also 6 at Preserve is such a cool hole. It is the one below the dune that runs parallel to the beach. We played it into a stiff breeze and watched 3 pretty good players giggle as they tried to figure out how to play it.
I am going to have to disagree about the 7 slot. PD 7 is a great design and BT 7 and BD 7 both are well routed holes with interesting features and elevation changes, but OM 7 is one of my favorite holes anywhere. And it is one that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. Plus the view from the green is as you know spectacular.
