Ryder Cup
« on: June 13, 2022, 05:46:08 AM »
With DJ joining the Euro Tour and Rory acting like an American I say we trade them for the Ryder Cup! :-)

Seriously, what impact will the LIV tour have on the Ryder Cup?  I really don't have a good sense from either the team selection standpoint or maybe even more important from the emotional standpoint....

I don’t think anyone on the US team wants to play with Reed so no harm there. I think the Euros lost a bunch of potentially really good captains.

If college kids don’t play for free why should the RC? Toast.

Players have gotten a fee designated for charity since 1999.

The sanctioned players fattened the calf that is sitting on them. Cool me once...

Great question, way too early to tell, especially as I don't think the defections are anywhere near finished.  I think we could easily see a few more big names go over...

This will be the first appearance fee event. Only PGA members need apply. Sweet revenge.

Eliminate captains picks and pay each player who qualifies for the Ryder Cup one million dollars more than Reed’s signing bonus.

Yes, we Europeans are probably going to have to cast the net wider for the next few captains.

Poulter, Garcia and Westwood were sound bets for the next three events. Kaymer and McDowell would certainly have been in the mix too.
2024: RSt.D; Mill Ride; Milford; Notts; JCB, Jameson Links, Druids Glen, Royal Dublin, Portmarnock, Old Head, Addington, Parkstone, Denham, Thurlestone, Dartmouth, Rustic Canyon, LACC (N), MPCC (Shore), Cal Club, San Fran, Epsom, Casa Serena, Hayling, Co. Sligo, Strandhill, Carne, Cleeve Hill

Have you read anything from the powers that be which hint at LIV players being banned from Euro side Ryder Cup? Would the PGA Tour be petty enough to end the partnership (or whatever exists) with the DPWT over the issue of LIV players taking part in the Ryder Cup?

There is also a rumour of the LIV tour "buying" the European tour, whatever that means.  But that would then mean that they have 50% control of the Ryder Cup as the European side is controlled by the European tour.

That could either be the end of the Ryder Cup or the most devisive competitive cup matches ever. ???
Maybe they could start a new PGA vs LIV/DP event called the Khashoggi Cup. :o
