Thanks Mike, I reviewed past post and found that Brower out of Canada is still selling 5-7-9-11 hydraulic pull behind gangs. just trying to find out if there are other alternatives. Maybe manufactured in Europe where there is more of a market.

As mentioned, Don would be the guy to talk to.

The other thing to look at is could you get by with a rotary gang mower vs. reel. Definitely better cut with the reel, but there's the matter of keeping the reels and bedknives sharp, and reel replacements are expensive.


I know Don was mowing fairways with pull behind rotaries on warm season grass, wondering if cool season would work as well.


What kind of height-of-cut you looking for? What grass types?

Not that I'm an expert by any means, but we have a PTO/belt driven 5 gang rotary mower.  It sucks, according to my super.  The belts break all.the.time. 


The supers I've known that use ground driven reel mowers seem to like them quite a bit.  Toro seemed to be the brand of choice.

Randy,You can find the Toro Reelmaster 7 or 11 blade ground driven units laying around.  They may be ground driven but they give a good fairway cut and last forever with low maintenance.  I have two of them and mow everything except for the 30 yards in front of greens where we go to lightweight units...
