What today is Green Valley CC in Lafayette Hill Pa was originally a public course named Marble Hall.  It was designed built and at least partially owed by William Flynn. 


They have a superintendent they are allowing to annually chip away at the trees and other improvements.

Bummer, Archie.   That was always a prime stop on our "Winter Tour", as a few of us would take the train...errr....our cars...from Philadelphia looking for a sand-based place to play.

a number of the courses built in the NYC tri-state area in the 90s/00s were initially public or daily fee and then went private. among those in this category not yet mentioned that immediately come to mind:


- Hawke Pointe, NJ
- New Jersey National
- Pine Barrens GC, NJ


In SE Florida, Emerald Dunes originally opened as a daily fee before going private.


You could probably generalize this nationwide that clubs built between 1980-2005 were more likely to go from public to private whereas older previously private clubs that ran into economic troubles were more likely to open up their play to the public.
