Not sure if anyone has shared this yet, but I saw Love Golf Design(DL3) posted that they are in the early stages of adding a new course in the Panama City Beach area. The St. Joe Company is the developer and currently owns three courses there - Camp Creek by Fazio, Sharks Tooth by Norman, and Origins(short course) by DL3.

The area from Panama City Beach to Destin is one of the fastest growing in Florida now. There is some excellent sandy terrain near there. I had been hearing St. Joe was at capacity for membership on their other courses and looking to add another. I'm excited to see what Love Golf Design can do there. The short course they built years ago is one of my favorite places to go have a hit on the gulf.

There's a lot of golf in that market but not much worth seeing...maybe this will spark more. I've also hear rumblings of a a much larger golf development scooping up an excellent sandy site. We will see.

Might be something to those rumblings. Not sure how fast things will happen, though.

Hugh Alison's most southerly US course was in Panama City, Panama Country Club. The club thinks it is a Ross, but in fact it's an Alison.

Short words are best, and the old words, when short, are the best of all.

Current Panama CC architect is Hurricane Michael.  Total redo opened late last summer.

The quality of Panhandle golf is surprisingly  poor.  I don’t bother bringing clubs anymore.

Think you're missing the point. There is a big name golf resort developer looking at (maybe already bought?) sandy land in the panhandle

Those rumblings and rumors sure seem to be heating up again...
