Question from a relatively new participant: is the first weekend of September the traditional BUDA date, or is the 2022 date still TBD?

I don't think it is set in stone but my limited experience suggests it is usually September but the actual weekend depends on public holidays and availability of the course(s). One day when you are the organiser you will know all about it !

Llandudno is a nice town though with plenty of hotels which could accommodate everyone.


All in all however, I’d favour Harlech and Aberdovey.

Although I only saw a little of the Curtis Cup coverage, I didn't see anything that looked that interesting; it looked rather flat. I had a look at some of the photos from the club's home page and it does appear to have some interesting holes. I'd be happy to attend if this course was chosen for a BUDA. There are some good courses on the way if you fly into Manchester, for those thinking of pre- an post-BUDA golf. 

I was hoping to get a better idea from the course tour on their web site, but unfortunately it's one of those awful "3D" versions that so many clubs foolishly choose to make. I'd be swayed to visit a course based on a real drone flyover video, but not one of those awful 3D versions.

Folks are getting a bit carried away. Conwy is good, but not special. I don't feel any need to revisit. Last time in the area I skipped it because of cost.

A few thoughts -

Tenby.

Lovely town. This year with less GB folks going overseas for their hols it and the surrounding area has been absolutely packed with visitors, especially at weekends. Whether this happens next year ….
As to other courses nearby well there’s the one closeby that Mike mentions plus other parklands at Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and Carmarthen. Whether GCA folks would care to play them though, circa DS 3/4-ish, is another matter. They would provide a nice insight into how many lessor GB courses are however. There’s not much else within an hours drive. Cardigan would be enjoyed by GCAers but it’s more like a near 2-hr drive north whilst the cool 9-holes at St Davids City and the 18 at Newport Links (1xBraid links 9, other recent farmers field 9) which GCA-ers probably might enjoy in a quirky way are a bit closer.
Otherwise is would be the links at Ashburnham and the Nicklaus seaside/marsh course at Llanelli that would be the nearest.

Lovely town. There’s a big hotel that overlooks the course and the bay and could hold all Buda-ites if they so wish - the Trefiddian - see https://www.trefwales.com/
Whether Aberdovey GC would be happy to accept a weekend related Buda in Sept is another matter.
Approx an hour north is Royal St David’s at Harlech and about half hr south is the rural and rustic links at Borth & Ynlas. Inland there’s the rural 9-holes with sheep at Machynlleth.
My gut feel tells me that if Aberdovey GC will accept a Buda it would make an excellent venue and isn’t that far away from Kington/Welshpool so folks who missed out on 2019’s Buda could have the opportunity to visit them too. It isn’t even that inconvenient from Manchester and Birmingham airports.

Im not sure Tenby is a great venue.  Whilst I’m in agreement that Conwy isn’t that exciting, North Wales GC is a lot of fun.  I don’t think it loses anything to Tenby either, and Conwy would be a better 2nd course than anything near Tenby.

it was a standard shift so I think my roadwork was rather exemplary.  And it's the "apex". The gutter just happens to occupy the same real estate.
