This is a major moment for golf in Wales, even if the transfer of control of the Curtis Cup from the old LGU to the R&A renders a return visit to a club of the modest domestic scale of Conwy very unlikely (the 2023 renewal will be at Merion, by way of contrast, not least in rates of annual subscription…)
I’lol be there all three days and hope to say hello to any GCAers in attendance: crowds have been COVID-restricted to small numbers each day, so spectating should be a real treat, and those watching on TV should see some lovely shots of Conwy’s splendid setting between sea and mountains. Anyway, much looking forward!

The list of courses dating back to the inaugural on both sides of the water makes me swoon.

Who the hell are the "announcers" on the telecast? I can't understand a word they're saying.  I put on the close caption and they can't get half of it either.  LOL
Are they speaking Welsh?  ???
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Won't it be the Sky dudes? Kauffman and Donnelly? If so, very experienced. Donnelly has a mild Scots, (Glaswegian?) accent. Kaufman is English.

YouTube commentary (assuming Sky too?) is presently Scotsman Dougie Donnelly and an American lady - Beth?

Just tuned in and it looks like hole no 5 is being played as 16th?

7 is 14th?

Anyone know what order is being played and why?

While I was watching/listening it was mentioned that the routing has been changed to make sure that certain holes, towards the end of the normal routing, were moved up in the round so that there was less chance a match would end before those holes were played.

I remember that this was done when Harding Park hosted the Presidents Cup and the World Matchplay. Holes 16, 17 & 18 are the "feature" holes there. They did not want any matches to end before those holes were played, so they changed the routing to move them up in the round.

Looking like the finishing holes would normally be
5, 6, 9, 10?
Will watch more tomorrow

3 hours for 9 holes so far this afternoon. It's practically unwatchable.

I like to watch women's golf as I believe amateur men can learn a lot from seeing players drive 230-250 yds, and yet score so well.

But, it's so slooooowww. The recent Women's Open was tough to watch. I tried to find the tee times to get an idea of how slow they were playing, but the official site did not display them. Do they have pace of play rules, and are they enforced - ever? !!!!

F.

I had to switch off the afternoon sessions both days. Completely unwatchable given the shocking number of average, poor and dreadful shots.

I don’t think anyone will be on the wrong side of a bet that says they will only get slower as they turn professional. That goes for the girls and guys alike.
