Down under in Australia, the umbrellas come out in summer when the heat is dry and strong, and the UV level can be 13.
Nearly 100% of women use them at my club, and about half of the men with Clic buggies.
I don't - I don't have a Clic buggy, and I avoid being on the course during the middle of the day.
Some people will laugh at you on the first hole, but by the 9th hole they will wish they had one.
Their golf will deteriorate on the back 9 from heat stress/dehydration compared to yours, and your reduced UV exposure will mean a lot less sun burn and skin damage.
