Some excellent walks have been named but if you have never been to NYC, Bayonne would be a great walk.

I'd suggest Fishers Island but it would be unbearable to only walk and not play Raynor's masterpiece. ;)

St. Enodoc GC is a wonderful walk. You could sit at the 14th tee overlooking the old church and forget to continue your round.

St Patrick’s - The time I played the Hacket routing it was so poorly maintained it was really just about the walk and it was a quite a nice walk.

Assuming you don't just mean purely the routing but taking in the surroundings, these are some of mine: (purposely staying away from the big names)

Highland Links
Brora
Askernish
Arrowtown
Covesea
Fraserburgh

For me on those it's the escapism.  Hidden away from the rest of the world, but assaults on the senses.  The NLE Stone Forest in China, Lofoten and Pokhara also look to tick those boxes.

I've not visited (yet) but Banff and Jasper struck me as a great places to take a walk, avec clubs.
2011 highlights- Royal Aberdeen, Loch Lomond, Moray Old, NGLA (always a pleasure), Muirfield Village, Saucon Valley, watching the new holes coming along at The Renaissance Club.

When I lived in Pacific Grove, I once walked from there to Carmel and back one day (about 14 miles round trip).  It took me through PG Muni, Spanish Bay, MPCC Dunes, Spyglass, the edge of Cypress and finally Pebble and back.  I missed MPCC Shore and Poppy, but it was a great walk.

Walking the Old Course on a Sunday is also wonderful.

 8)  JohnVDB, I'd include the warmup walk in the museum before the walk at TOC, with special attention to the topo, and a side trip to the Himalayas

We did tour the museum before our walk and had a look at the Himalayas as we walked.  Always a good time.

Simon, correct. Not thinking about the routing. Rather, as you answered, the landscapes most enjoyable to spend some time meandering through. Dozens of great answers here.  Thanks all!

I would vote Capilano.  Golf in the PNW is generally lacking, but the hiking is not.  A stroll down the mountain through those big beautiful trees and then back up to the top with views of Vancouver below.

Kittansett, weaves in and out of beautiful ecosystems, brilliant bunkering, and many views of Buzzards Bay

Maidstone: great setting among dunes, great variety holes and splendid greens

I've played some golf around Paris (possibly the most underrated golf trip) but never ventured up to Normandy, will have to remedy that if I ever travel again.

To MKrohn: I’ve walked those cliffs.  Normandy is truly hallowed ground given what happened there in 1944, and the notion of playing golf there seems (almost) disrespectful.  Maybe the real disrespect would be to my bride, who prefers we enjoy French things while we’re in France.  Nothing wrong with that; it is my favorite country in the world.

The absence of Cruit Island and Bamburgh Castle from this thread so far suggests we aren't as well travelled as we'd like to think.  The absence of NSW is astonishing (and, come to think of it, Barnbougle and National, too).  RDGC is a good shout, but TOC?  With Elie just down the road?  And Balcomie is worth a shout, too.
In July I will be riding two stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity, including Mont Ventoux for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I couldn't begin to name the best course to take a walk. This year, to date it was probably Porthcawl. Lovely views, some up and down, lovely textures. I also enjoyed Little Aston a few weeks ago. The most surprising walk so far this year was Painswick. It's not as bad as I remember! In recent years I took to parking up by the 4th tee to avoid the 1st. Its OK.

I'd add Ardfin - I would happily walk the cliffs near the opening holes and then follow the coast line down to the beach, through the walled garden, and ending on the point with Islay in the near distance. Absolutely sublime.

There are so many good ones on the water that have been mentioned, but I agree with Jeff. Throw in views to Bass Island with the birds circling and being able to see across the Firth, and it is pretty hard to beat for a walk. One of the days we played there they were having a sailboat race out of the cove. It was just a spectacular day even if my game wasn’t.

I'll put a good word in for Golspie.  You have about 3/4 of a mile within twenty five yards of the North Sea and then you get to take a stroll through the heathlands, the forest, the parkland and then back to within sight of the ocean beginning with 12.  Sometimes I walk it with only one club.
Some days you play golf, some days you find things.

I'm not really registered, but I couldn't find a symbol for certifiable.

During Covid the neighbors near Rolling Green treated us like their park. It was great to see families walking the course.

We now have dramatic views within the course of the many uphill green sites, the three iconic features ( bridge, historic house, and clubhouse), and the Philly skyline.

The walk across the course rather than following the routing is a good exercise and provides many visual surprises.
