Speculation seems to be that 11 is being shifted to allow for 15 to be lengthened. Seems like the most plausible scenario to me too.

Can’t see needing to move the entire 11th to drop the 15th tee back a bit? It’s already quite a bit back as it is. Not sure where else they can go other than closer to the 10th green. Can’t shift it I would think as you’d be hitting over the 14th green.

Kevin I had to do a double take on the photo with the water drained by the green left.  What liner is that and they must have damned it off for the work being done.

Also the bunker liner right of the green.  Peeling back the makeup.

Can you say ? More spectator bottlenecks?
Thanks USGA for making ANGC clean up your mess
Pretty sure ANGC doesn't intend to go the way of Myopia Hunt Club(as great as it is for the rest of us)

Is Fazio still the major consultant, or is the club itself driving the bus on recent renovations?

Any reason why 14 has never been extended, top looks easy do-able.

I guess the need 15 at 560 to restore the 'intent'...lot of work for that but money is no object of course.

When probably the highest profile course/club in the game is undertaking this kind of activity does it send a good or bad message to the outside world about the game of golf?

It’s time Augusta just has the tee shots cross over #11 and #15.

The same thing should happen at nearly every other club in the world to restore the importance of long irons (or hybrids ??? ) to the game at its highest levels.

They’re making changes for a once a year tournament for tees no member ever plays. For the explosion in length most your average players still hit it the same. Club I caddie at has a bunker that’s 280 front edge. I’ve caddied there 17 years and seen a member in it off the tee once. The ground was frozen.

Now I'm no expert on Augusta National, having only attended the 1985 Masters, but if I didn't know better I would swear that a right side fairway bunker is being built on No. 11.  When you look at the collection of equipment gathered there in the newest aerial image that looks down the hole toward the green it just........well........ just looks like what, in my limited experience, seems to be a bunker about to happen.

And I know that massive loblolly pines and mature shrubs will be installed in and around that new back tee on No. 15, but it sure seems like if you are standing on it you would be able to hear drives from No. 11 whistling overhead.

It's 440 with an uphill drive, dogleg left with fairway sloping right with a treacherous green
Lots of stuff being hidden behind those trees

I fired up Google Earth and took a measurement.

It seems they could go another 40-45 yards straight back from the rear of 15 tee.  But Neal is certainly correct in that you would hear drives buzzing overhead from 11 tee, unless they are planning on shifting that tee box to the left too (they certainly have the room to do it)
