Unknown to general manager Sean McLaughlin of the Brae Burn CC in West Newton, MA, their nine hole Highland course was designed by Donald Ross. The Highland course was designed and constructed from 1921 to 1922. Brae Burn's eighteen hole Championship course was known previously to be remodeled by Ross in 1912 and 1928. Brother Alec Ross was an early golf pro of the club. Alec won the US Open in 1907 and six Massachusetts Open titles.
