This week Chester County approved a series of grants for open space acquisitions and improvements.  See article below near end it covers the topic at hand.

Included in this was $863k to acquire the golf course. This may just be the county’s contribution as the place always seemed busy to me and fronts on major road. Family designed, built, owned and operated for 40+ years.

It’s a Doak 3 (about the average course).

I played there about 20 times during my first stay in Chester County. I didn't play much golf at that time. It scratched an itch and I enjoyed it more than I did Wyncote.

I would be up for a last round meet up. Driven by it a bunch of times but never played.

Loch Nairn, a local favorite dating to 1970, will become a nature preserve, according to the dailylocal.com. At 6,400 yards, it was the right mix of challenging and entertaining. The final two reviews were heartfelt sendoffs from regulars: "Goodbye. I like playing the course. I played more often than all the other golf courses around me. I’m going to miss Loch Nairn." - Glenn1954"Thanks for the memories. The greens were in better shape than some other courses I play that are going to stay open." - Brothermike

Sounds like San Geronimo in west Marin county, that closed.  Amid a vast area of open space, the local activists wanted more.  A beautiful place to play, back in the day.
