I once asked him what was the best shot he ever hit.
Without hesitation it was "The chip at Lytham" (88 Open 72nd hole)
"What about the 3 wood out of the bunker at the Ryder Cup? (1983 Florida)
"That was for the team - the chip was for me"
He was a remarkable player - for me the best I've seen to just watch play golf. Tiger's golf was probably better but at that level their best was absolutely comparable. But given the choice I'd watch Seve.
I've been lucky enough to watch them play great golf at Royal Melbourne and it shows how much better professional golf is when it's played on great golf courses.
Perhaps surprisingly the next two players I'd pick for great Royal Melbourne golf were Hale Irwin (64 in R1 1978) and Lydia Ko - Australian Open 2014.
But MacKenzie built that place for Seve - he just didn't know it at the time.
