You win a choice of a dozen combo platter of Top 100 courses or another set of unranked courses.
Either way, you're staying in a Holiday Inn Express(hence the sudden access:)
Fees are comped.
The only catch is, you have to walk and carry, (and buy) all balls you need for the trip

Top 100's-many top 50's
Alotian,Butler National, Victoria National, Rich Harvest Farms, Congaree, Canyata, Valhalla, Muirfield Village, Pikewood National, Hudson National, Dallas National and Diamond Creek Club.

or unranked and you stay in the same hotel every night-.
The Creek, Piping Rock, Engineers, St George's, Rockaway Hunt, Bethpage Red, Southampton,Huntington CC,Wheatley Hills, Fresh Meadow, North Shore and Inwood.

CLEARLY, the word National is important to raters ::) ::) ::) ;D

Any list without WP9 is dead to me.

How many lists is it on, other than the very recent list of best nine-hole courses?

No idea, I was just fishing for a chance to brag about driving the par 4 ninth hole with my Tony Penna. I’ll probably return but it is almost an hour from my home. My scale puts it in a league with Streamsong.

WP9 is good enough to influence where I may purchase my next home. That’s a short list.

Golf Digest 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses is out. I have my print copy. I have played 47 with one more scheduled. As a rater I woule be considered an outlier.

My favorite has to be #54  "Course Omitted After Publication"   :D   It turns out that Point O'Woods doesn't want to be thought of as "public".  But it blew my mind that Shadow Creek is now thought of that way . . . and ranked one spot ahead of Pinehurst #2.

Also, they now have the clockwise version of The Loop rated 19 spots ahead of the counterclockwise version.  Just like GOLF DIGEST to go with conventional thinking.

Question, would Royal Portrush be considered public or private? Is a resort like  Innisbrook which has a $40,000 initiation a private club or is it public? Seems like not all clubs fit in a specific category,

If only there were some magical "weblink" that could provide an answer...

"Public can mean different things when it comes to golf. Does the word refer to primarily municipal courses and straight daily-fee operations? Do resort courses count, where an accompanying room night might be required to play? The answer as it relates to the biennial Golf Digest America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses is all of the above.
[/size]This includes several traditionally private clubs that now offer limited stay-and-play packages—if you really want to play them, there’s a way."

No hard feelings, Rob, just being a smartass.

Having recently returned from Aiken SC, I'll take Aiken GC with a $32 green fee over many of the much more expensive and exclusive courses on the list.

Even though it's just barely on the list at 99, the inclusion of the McLemore Club highlights both recency bias and the importance of scenery on these lists.

It's not that it's a bad golf course -- I enjoyed playing there, and will likely go back -- but it has several funky holes and some bland ones. It's not even remotely in the same class as a course like Mid Pines, which is only a few spots higher on the list. I can think of several other courses that aren't on the list that are better than McLemore just in Georgia and the Carolinas.
