Probably been discussed before but what's the story with Thousand Greens?  Seems like a no-cost poor man's version of Outpost.  Their website says they have 7400 members.  Anybody a member?  Any value to joining?

Like all good things it has potential for abuse. Some clubs have restricted guest play for all members because of 1000 bad eggs.

Only good things to report from me. I have hosted half a dozen TG'ers before CV hit and all are nice guys that i have stayed in touch with. I had arranged games in the US via TG successfully & was looking forward to those before the world changed & trips were cancelled.

And that is the problem. Members at some great clubs have been selling tee times pocketing the difference between the unaccompanied rate and member rate. Please tell me how it is different than GolfNow.

This is not my experience. 1000 Geens is a system for golfers to play courses with members as a guest. It's give and take.

JK - I think you are confusing great courses and great clubs. It cannot be a great club if members would host a guest in order to pocket a profit. It’s the proper gesture to sort your host’s caddie so hosting you isn’t costing your host.

That is the exact opposite of my experience when friends have hosted me. They usually pick up the tab for everything.


Getting your caddie paid for sounds like quid pro quo mischief to me.

You could buy a Doak three for what this guy payed to join. Real people get hurt by fake relationships.

Reciprocals among clubs are also give & take, but instead of you owing the member one at your course if he's in the area, your club owes the club you played one if members ever come into the area

[/size]John you do talk some guff at times. If someone you know loosely or haven’t met before is kind enough to host you it shouldn’t cost them[/color]
[/size]$100 for the pleasure. As a guest you cannot buy them lunch or a thank you drink so settling their caddie bill is next expected but is the right thing to do.[/color]
