Jim,
The one I used to enjoy playing but has since closed was Harkers Hollow.  Berkleigh is also a White design but I have never been a big fan of the ditch that runs across the course and impacts many holes.

Am I the only one with a Xenophon Hassenplug course on my list? ;)

P.S.  I'm sure I am not, but I just love an excuse to use his name, because it is both unique and has such a good rhythm.

Mark - my dad was a member at Harker’s from 1958-67 and the we rejoined for a while when I turned 16, 1984-89. This was before the fairway sprinklers were there (or if they were there they were not really used) and everything ran real firm. Wonderful course in that every hole had a shot that would work, you just had to know it and then execute. 13-16 was a great run. The course’s ending years were very sad.

I like Berkleigh as well. Very good par 3s.

I think at one point he had a hand in Cumberland CC in MD. It is a fun course on some hilly terrain.

I'm a relative lightweight, having only played 117 courses in the ten years I've been playing golf.

28 of those however, are Alister MacKenzie designs.

I suspect Braid comes next. It's difficult to play golf in the UK and not rack up a lot of Braid courses!

Duncan-That’s an impressive statistic on the MacKenzie courses. Well played!!!!

Tim,

It's entirely a function of where I live. Three of the four courses closest to my home in south Manchester are MacKenzie designs. The other one is a Colt!  8)

There are around fifty MacKenzie courses in England. The vast majority are in the north - particularly around Manchester and Leeds.

Jim,
Yes Harkers had some good holes.  I always enjoyed playing it.  Berkleigh does have some strong par threes.  As I said, I am just not the biggest fan of the ditch.  It is more penal than strategic especially for higher handicappers.  There is a similar one at Allentowm Muni and I am hoping to pipe the portion on the 3rd hole at some point.  We have done some work there but money is tighter than it was at Bethlehem.  I am quite pleased with the transformation at Bethlehem.  I think you have been out there.  It was a relatively low budget but we accomplished a ton renovating the entire design.  Still need to finish up tee work particularly more forward tees.  An old Gordon course as you know.  Getting back to the question of this thread I have played a ton of Gordon and Flynn courses. Maybe the one who has played more Flynn designs is Wayne Morrison.  I think I have played all the Flynn’s that remain except for maybe four or five. Would have to go look to be sure.  We have a list of all of Flynn’s designs.

Five Ponds GC in Warminster, PA is on my list as an X. Hassenplug course.

47 – Donald Ross
23 – Tom Fazio, Pete Dye
22 – Jack Nicklaus
19 – RTJ Sr
16 – AW Tillinghast
15 – Michael Hurdzan
12 – Seth Raynor, Coore & Crenshaw
9 – Tom Doak, Old Tom Morris, RTJ Jr, Arthur Hills, Arnold Palmer
8 – Gil Hanse
7 – William Bell, Willie Park Jr
6 – Perry Maxwell, Devereux Emmet, Rees Jones, Dick Wilson, Jeff Brauer
5 – CB MacDonald, James Braid, Mike Strantz, Willard Byrd, Jack Kidwell, Davis Love III, Ellis Maples, Tom Jackson, Gary Player
4 – William Flynn, Harry Colt, Francis Duane, Ted Robinson, David Rainville
3 – Alistair MacKenzie, George Thomas, David McLay Kidd, CH Alison, Langford & Moreau, Stiles & Van Kleek, Russell Breedon, Dan Maples, Bobby Weed, Johnny Miller, Schmidt & Curley, Barry Serafin, Gene Hamm, Clyde Johnston, Bob Cupp, George Cobb, David Gordon

Of course, attribution can be tricky for certain courses, especially older courses that have been touched by many over the years.  I would say my list above is best efforts for certain courses/architects, as to who gets primary credit.  Particularly in the UK, there are many that have some combination of Old Tom Morris, Harry Colt, James Braid, Willie Park Jr, as well as a few others.
I only compiled my list of all courses played last year. This thread inspired me to do the research on their designers and here's where things fall.  I've played 217 courses in my lifetime, mostly in Virginia (66) where I was born and raised, and North Carolina (77) where I've lived the past 15 years.  Not surprising Mr. Ross tops my modest list:

21 - Donald Ross
10- Tom Fazio
9 - George Cobb
7 - Ed Ault, Greg Norman
6 - Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Ellis Maples, Dan Maples, Jack Nicklaus, Russell Breeden
5 - Mike Strantz
4 - Alex McKay, Tom Jackson, Gene Hamm
3 - Old Tom Morris, Pete Dye, Willard Byrd, P.B. Dye, Buddy Loving, Ferdinand Garbin
2 - Perry Maxwell, A.W. Tillinghast, Eddie Hackett, Fred Findlay, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Michael Hurdzan, Rick Jacobson, Lester George
