I've never seen anybody add the bulk that BDC has added in the time frame that he's added it through ANY sort of weight training.
How much weight did he put on and over what time frame do you think it occurred? How much was muscle and how much was just a bit of a belly?

He was ingesting like 7-10,000 calories/day.
I believe that he put on 20+ lbs in a three month period while the Tour was shut down, did he not?

This is turning nasty. It's probably best to refrain from accusing people of using drugs without first hand knowledge and for very good reasons. Hopefully Ran shuts this thread down.

Sean,

No nastiness intended on my part, and I don't think I've "accused", though I'm not necessarily opposed to doing that in this case.

What I have said is that I've never seen anybody do to their body what BDC has done to his IN THE TIME FRAME he's done it, thru any form of weight training and diet alone.  I've seen lots of athletes put on 20 lbs of muscle in a year, usually between their freshman and sophomore years of college under the direct supervision of a strength coach and as part of the growth process for that age, and occasionally you see such athletes gain up to 40 lbs during their college career, though that is rare AND represents a much smaller percentage of their body weight than we are talking about with BDC, in addition to a completely different stage of life and time frame.

I also do NOT accept that he (and/or his trainer) possesses a knowledge base that others do not, nor that he possesses a work ethic that other do not.

I also believe that BDC has shown himself to be willing to at the very least play fast and loose with the Rules of Golf, (to wit, his intentional use of putter that was later ruled to be non-conforming) and I hold the personal belief that this sort of behavior isn't a light switch that one turns on and off.  To paraphrase Maya Angelou, when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

If all of that amounts to an accusation, I'm ok with that.  But it's just as reasonable, IMO, to speculate in that direction as any other, given the history of PEDs in athletics over the last 20 years or so, combined with what are, at best, pretty incredible results both in body change and driving distance.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... Sounds like an accusation couched in soft language 🤔. I am not sure what the point of your posts are if not to accuse.

"If all of that amounts to an accusation, I'm ok with that."

That was the first sentence of my last paragraph in my previous post.  I'm not trying to dance around the subject, or make my opinions hard to follow.

Ideally, accusations are accompanied by proof, and I don't have that.  But my OPINION about how this was done should be clear, and I think Occam's Razor is on my side.  That wouldn't stand up in a court of law, which this forum decidedly is not.

Sean,

The duck analogy is perfect...as it relates to BDC and his rapid, nearly overnight, gains.

As a secondary point, history has that habit of repeating itself and I'm reminded of the naivete when everyone looked the other way while McGuire, Canseco, and Bonds were transforming themselves into cartoonish looking characters and hitting baseballs ungodly distances...and he we are all over again.

Perhaps I am a rube, but that isn't the point. Publicy accusing someone of taking drugs with scant evidence is not only unwise, it makes the GCA.com family look bad. I could fully understand if you had your own blog and went to town, but this forum isn't quite the same thing. Live and let live.

As someone who has been on the wrong end of innocent rumor and innuendo, I think folks should step back a bit.

Amen to that.

I agree 100%
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Let's not wax so holier than thou mates. Quite sure that performance enhancing drugs are pretty prevalent at the highest levels. It's certainly not the worst crime ever but to ignore the obvious at times is quite silly.

I'm not saying that either Tiger or Bryson have used PED's. But like most of our political actors they won't be punished or prosecuted for it even if it is true. Too much money involved for too many!

At least someone hasn't said baseless claims yet :P :-*
