Congrats to Brian Gay for winning the Bermuda tournament. Nice to see an aging short-hitter win every once in a while.

David,
There seems to be stretches where he is really good.  His name can be seen hovering around the top of leaderboards.  He has tons of game, but him being a short knocker takes him out of contention in many events.  I wish this wasn’t the case.

That is one more data point that the bomb and gouge guys do not, in fact, destroy older, shorter courses, but have trouble competing on them.

Amazing to see him show up...and then win.

I saw almost none of the golf, but did notice the greens were dead soft. Obviously the wind up is a welcome, but unpredictable, treat.

As to the question of the bombers destroying shorter courses...I've felt all along that the Tour wasn't as worried about that as they just really want their schtick to be how far these guys hit the ball. Nurturing the bomb and gouge playing style has ramifications all the way down the line.

Gay has picked up 23 yards in average driving distance since he last won in 2013.

Pretty good...I'd guess that is primarily optimization with some speed training.

 8)   Perhaps Brian Gay can carry over his game to Houston this weekend
