North Berwick on film
« on: October 20, 2020, 05:12:22 PM »
Ok it might essentially be Ping and Radar with local girl and British Women's Open winner Catriona Matthew but there’s plenty of nice North Berwick footage on this film -

Enjoy.

As mentioned here before, one of the great happenstances for me is that Catriona Matthew's husband carried for me two years ago at NB. A true privilege and pleasure. He is so modest that he failed to point out that the house just off the 18th tee is their home. After watching the video, I renewed my request to my wife that we should retire to North Berwick. No disrespect to Dornoch or St Andrews, but very difficult to imagine a more special golf place.

Very enjoyable watch. Thanks for posting. I have a friend who played on the team at Univ of St. Andrews. One of his teammates, who I've met and played with, is a member at NB. Even more desire to get over there and play with him after this. . .

Thanks for sharing that. Delightful. I putt with nearly the exact same grip as Catriona. Switched to it two years ago. Averaging 28 putts a round since then.

I love Radar and Catriona Matthew is spectacular. However, I must say that I was so disappointed in the filming of North Berwick. As Radar said "I've heard the back 9 here is good." It's my favorite 9 holes of any course I have ever played. They didn't really show the redan. They skipped "perfection" entirely and didn't even show the whole green on 17. At least they talked a little about and showed the wall. Am I being too grumpy?

Spot on Rick, her comments on playing into the 14th and 17th greens would have been fascinating.   His slots on Sky demand conciseness and he's often amusing, less so here. The whole film could have been edited tighter.

Last month I Qualified for the Tantallon GC (flight 2) last 16, matchplay Championship. Being 3 up after 7 holes into a 3 club wind felt good.
Turned around and with that wind behind lost my swing completely!   Needed to chip in on 16 to ensure keeping the match alive.
Ball rolled past hole and down the other side and I was not cheered by the smile on the face of an unexpected spectator. Out walking her dogs, she had no idea of the deep pain I felt!
Hearing her say its something she's done, still doesn't help much.
