The Links Diary
« on: August 05, 2020, 04:32:05 PM »
Another high quality golf "journal" has arrived. It is called The Links Diary and appears to originate from Scotland. The debut issue is available only online. You can register/subscribe for free.

There is a nice article on Golspie GC ("The Great Golspie").

Just glancing at the photos make my heart heavy as I will not be able to travel to the UK this year.  Golspie flies under the radar and is one of those hidden gems which we all yearn to find.  It has the best group of par 3s that I have seen in the UK.

I am a complete Golspie sycophant, but I am hard pressed to think of a better set of Par 3s anywhere except for CPC. And that includes Swinley Forest, Ballybunion Old, Royal Dornoch, Pacific Dunes, and Pasatiempo.

The set of par 3's at Fraserburgh are pretty special ...

Thanks for posting David.
Great stuff.

I must say I found the "Adventure Golf" article rather ironic, given stops at Turnberrry, Troon, TOC etc.
I'm picturing him parking his bike between scores of Japanese, Swedish and American tourist buses
Adventure "travel "might be a better mantra.
IMHO a golden opportunity was missed to combine his rustic/adventure travel with rustic adventure courses such as Durness, Gairloch, Wick Traigh , Barra, Wick etc..etc.
perhaps a sequel...

Can't wait to get up to Dornoch next week for Carnegie Shield Plan B.  Tain, Brora, Golspie and Boat of Garten; all on the menu to supplement a few rounds at RD.

Happy days.  Thanks for sharing, David.
2011 highlights- Royal Aberdeen, Loch Lomond, Moray Old, NGLA (always a pleasure), Muirfield Village, Saucon Valley, watching the new holes coming along at The Renaissance Club.
