The only one I can think of for this list would be the 16th hole at Meadow Wood golf course in Liberty Lake, WA, which I doubt anyone here has played.

569 yards from the white tees, 600+ from the back tee. OB down the entire left side with a sharp dog leg left at about 150 in.  The last 125 yards rises approx 50 feet from fairway to green with OB left and right of the green and a massive bunker in front protecting most of it. In my 50+ rounds there I birdied it once on a chip in from the fringe and made par three times, with maybe 10 or so bogeys, so sure I'd take one...

I don't know if I'd be glad but 6 on 15 at PV isn't dreadful.

Carne Kilmore 5th. Unreachable in two, there are so many things that can go wrong that I’ll take my six almost every time.

Wow. I always look forward to 15. No Xs for me there yet. Can’t say the same for 16, though!

Easy.  13 ANGC.  Means I have spent a great day, bucket list.  I don’t care what the score might be.

In the same vein, 18 at Pebble.  Good to make a par, but a bogey there is more than acceptable, unless of course the course record is in danger.

You can't think that you're going to make a 7 or worse on a par 5.... even if it is true.

This and the two other related threads should prove a revealing take on golfing expectations and ego/vanity.
Not sure many folks can hit two full shots well enough to get in position to consistently hit the green with their third shot on a par-5, so 6 or more is going to be their usual score.
Me? If I can’t reach the green with a short-iron for my 3rd the chances of taking 6 or in some more extreme cases rather more is greater than scoring 5.

#16 Olympic Lake. I need 3 perfect shots to reach the green in regulation. That doesn't happen very often. :)

Maybe 16 at Balboa. Lowest hole in the photo. 555 along a plateau with dropoffs to canyon/hazard on both sides (and OB right off the tee).

The Claw at The Claw in Tampa, FL was built to win one award...this one.

Kyle Harris has probably been waiting for me to throw this one out there.

Golf is many things to many people, but can we agree that one thing it should never be is something called 'The Claw'? When we think of golf, isn't a claw way way down the list, further down than, say, the 'bowling ball' and the 'manual transmission'?

Professor Tepper beat me to the most obvious one - on Olympic Lake #16, the difference between hitting a 9-iron 3rd shot in my previous incarnation and trying to hoist a 4-iron over the same diagonal green side bunkers is, ahem, the difference between a tap-in par and being happy with bogey.

The other two that come to mind are both C&C creations. No matter how swimmingly things are rolling along on Bandon Trails - even making an unlikely par on #14, the final gauntlet - into the teeth of the afternoon hurricane - is too much for me anymore.

#15 tenderizes what is left of my legs (because I’m too dumb to play it in the morning round), followed by a severe par-5 that plays about 900 yards uphill. I still hit the ball straight, but my tee shot invariably gets bitch-slapped to the ground, followed by a 5-wood 2nd shot, up the face of Half Dome.

Now, at best, I’m 140 yards away from a tiny patch of grass, perched atop a wind-swept eagle’s nest, trying to punch a 4-iron somewhere up there, although damn if I have an idea where the pin might be. I can testify under oath, it is NOT in the deep left-side bunker.

Even that rare day when I somehow find the dance floor, I’m left with a downhill, downwind tentative tap that dutifully rolls off the front of the green and down the fairway, making certain I will NEVER, EVER make a par. My only early morning round (zero breeze) was a relaxed 72, but I’ve never come close to breaking 80 since.

The second one is #14 at We-Ko-Pah Saguaro outside Scottsdale. Just your garden variety, severely uphill Channel Hole par-5, into the same wind velocity, except dry as a bone in 100 degree heat. You could say - after 20 tries - that hole “has my number” . . . . and the number is 7.

Easy to miss that if your handicap is 19 or above it would come down to 18 if you scored a 4 on all the Par-3’s, a 5 on all the Par-4’s and a 6 on all the Par-5’s.
